It will be great to welcome him as our new Archbishop. But how sad to say farewell to Archbishop Sentamu who has given outstanding leadership to this Diocese, the Northern Province and to the wider Church and Nation for 15 years. He and Margaret will be in our prayers. Archbishop Sentamu will not retire until June, before that he will be concentrating on the Northern Bishops’ Mission to the Diocese of York. On Sunday 1 March at 16.00 we will be holding a renewal of marriage vows service at St Andrew’s. This is to celebrate love and to renew the commitment we have made to one another in our marriage. Burns Night You are invited to a celebration of Burns Night on Saturday 1st February at St Andrew’s Church Hall, arrive 18.45 to start at 19.00. A wee dram to toast the haggis and Pipe Major from York Pipe Band. There will be a Scottish Quiz and raffle and Scottish poetry. Further details and ticket £20.00 from 07922 270162. We also need Scottish themed prizes for the raffle, any donations would be gratefully received. The Archbishop of York will be taking the 10.30 Eucharist at Holy Trinity, Acaster Malbis on Sunday 26th January. During this service the Archbishop will bless the new stained glass window installed in memory of Carol Woolcombe. Children’s Society Belated thanks to all who attended the Children’s Society Coffee Morning in November. A total of £721.25 was raised through collection boxes, books, bric-a-brac and a fantastic raffle.
