If you can provide wrapped biscuits (e.g penguins) or a cake please bring them before Thursday evening either to: · the church office (open 9—1 each day) · or leave them in the box at the back of church (open all day and each evening this week for the Thy Kingdom Come Events) Apologies! The flyers and some of the posters for Ascension Day had the wrong date! It should have been 10th May not the 25th May. We will continue to support our communities with prayer, but In line with the new Data Protection rules we will only be able to publish prayer requests where we have had specific consent to do so. All other prayer requests received will be kept by the vicar for private prayer. Please find prayer request forms available in each church to gather information and consent for prayer. Church Hall Bookings. Our hourly rates have been simplified and we are now taking hall bookings online! To see our availability and to make a booking please see the website (link below). Bishopthorpe Churches Together—Prayer visiting Each week both of the Churches in Bishopthorpe pray for one of the streets in the village (see back page) and once a year, as part of our outreach, we try to visit a few streets and ask if they have any prayer requests. This can be for a need or thanksgiving; for family, work, pets or for world issues. This is an important part of our Church witness and most people find it a privilege to do. We hope to have at least 12 volunteers, 6 from each church, who go to each house in the chosen street, in pairs, and chat to people. This will take place in the week commencing Monday 4th June from 6.30—7.30pm and you only have to do one evening. The more people we have the more streets we can cover. In preparation for this all volunteers are invited to a light lunch and briefing session at Bishopthorpe Methodist on Sunday 3 June at 12noon. Please prayerfully consider if you can be part of this valuable witness. There is a sign up sheet at the back of church. (Subject to Safeguarding clearance) On Sunday 10th June at 10.30am, to celebrate the prayer visiting, we are having a united service in the village hall, where the village will be invited to come and the collected prayer requests will be used. Please put this date in your diary.
