The benefice Office is now open on Thursday and Friday morning mornings from 09:00 to 13:00
Greetings! The Ministry Team and Recognised Parish Assistants are here for you! If you would like to contact us for any reason, please do ring Chris’ mobile any time. I am here for everyone and not just for those who have a faith. Because our income has been adversely affected by the pandemic, we are grateful for any donations, do click the button on the website or send your donation to the Benefice Office, Church Lane, Bishopthorpe, YO23 2QG. Write the name of the church where you would like your donation to go. Thank you to those who support your church on a regular basis. Thank you for donations towards St Andrew’s Gift Day. So far, we have received £827.45. Although the amount is nothing like we have had in previous years, we are so grateful for the generosity and support. Thank you! Our churches have been opening over the last weeks and we now hold the following services. However, because of social distancing there are limits on the numbers we can have at any one service. Please phone the Benefice Office on Thursdays and Fridays (0900 to 1300) to book a place. We still have a weekly service which is put up on the website and on Facebook. Prayers We pray for the baptism of Albert John Byrne held this morning in All Saints’ Church, Appleton Roebuck during the 10:30 Eucharist. We pray for his parents, Richard and Amy and for their home. For the families of those who have died recently and whose funerals will be taking place over the next two weeks, especially John Hoynes, Margaret King, David John Tutcher, Robin (Bob) Malcolm Douglas. Let us prepare two tables When we return home, let us prepare two tables, one for bodily food, the other for that spiritual food which is the Holy Scripture. Let the husband and wife repeat what has been said in the holy assembly; let them learn it and the children listen to it. Let each of you make your home a church. Are you not responsible for the salvation of your children? Are you not likely to have to give an account of their upbringing? Just as we, the shepherds of the flock, will give an account of what we have done for your souls, so parents of families will have to answer before God for the children of the home. St John Chrysostom 347-407 AD
