Prayer Visiting– Would you be willing to help? Each week both of the Bishopthorpe Churches pray for one of the streets in the village and once a year, as part of our outreach, we try to visit one street and ask if they have any prayer requests. This can be for a need or thanksgiving; for family, work, pets or for world issues. This is an important part of our Church witness and most people find it a privilege to do. We hope to have at least 12 volunteers, at least six from each church, who go to each house in pairs and chat to the people. This will be on Tuesday 6th and Wednesday 7th June at 6.00pm. Please prayerfully consider if you can be part of this valuable witness. More information will follow shortly but if you have any questions please contact Malcolm Parker or the Parish office. On Sunday 11th June, to celebrate the prayer visiting, we are having a united service in the village hall at 10.30am, where the village will be invited to come and the collected prayer requests will be used. Please put this date in your diary. Christian Aid Week. Many thanks to those who supported Christian Aid at the recent concert. We raised £943.16. Ascension Day Thursday 25th May. Thy Kingdom Come On 4th June York Minster will host a worship and prayer event as part of a global wave of prayer taking place between 25 May and 4 June. Thy Kingdom Come is an international movement which invites Christians around the world to pray between Ascension and Pentecost for more people to know Jesus Christ. As well as encouraging prayer everywhere, the events are designed to gather, ignite and inspire worship and intercession for a generation to rise up with a fresh passion and confidence for the proclamation of the Gospel. The event is open to all with young people particularly encouraged to attend. Doors open at 7pm with the service starting at 7.30pm. This is a free event, but you do need to register. For tickets follow the link on the Diocese of York website or directly at: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/thy-kingdom-come-york-minster-beacon-event-tickets-33242562399
